Citrus oils expire in 2-5 years. Store in cool dark place.

Our Lemon essential oil is completely safe to be consumed internally. See our GRAS FDA certificatin page (Generally regarded as safe). Our lemon is imported directly from S.A. Plantes Aromatiques du Diois (SAPAD), Melissa’s 100% ECOCERT certified, organic cooperative in France. We only buy our essential oils from SAPAD. Organically certified, Pesticide tested and Melissa’s current employment with SAPAD, ensure that our oils are processed and stored according to GMP’s and ECOCERT. Therefore, we cannot vouch for other companies’ lemon oil.

Around 3,000 Lemons are cold pressed to make 1kg of Lemon oil. Therefore, it is quite expensive to produce. If you are looking to buy true lemon organic essential oil, the price should be around $35 – $40 per ounce (30ml).

When the pesticide-sprayed peel is pressed, the end result is the oil that contains these pesticides. So, it is crucial that citrus oils come from only organic cultivation. This is a lot of organic land mass you are supporting and consuming. The earth and your body will thank you! On the other hand, if you are consuming non-organic lemon oil, that is A LOT of chemicals that you should not be using internally or externally.

The health optimizing essential oil chemical is d-limonene, only found in the rind of the lemon essential oil, not the fruit itself. Like other citrus peel oils, lemon is cold pressed and not steam distilled.
